Abstract:

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between international students’ participation in Internet
activities and their Chinese language proficiency. The research results demonstrate that the frequency
with which international students browsed websites on Chinese social and cultural activities is positively
associated with their Chinese listening ability; the frequency with which international students exchanged
information/files/opinions with other Internet users on Chinese social and cultural activities websites is
positively associated with their Chinese composition ability; and the frequency with which international
students searched or bought books on the Internet for Chinese learning is positively associated with their
Chinese language proficiency.
